How Social Media May Impact the Sale of Your Home

Posted by Liz Williams on Wednesday, December 11th, 2019 at 9:57pm

Today I hit 1,000 Instagram followers! While not an exactly noteworthy feet, not bad for less than a year professionally on the 'Gram. Why is it even worth a moment of time in my day? Millennials now make up 66% of the market (aka, THE MAJORITY!). Better yet, 99% of first-time homebuyers (source: NAR) are looking for those homes via the internet. Still, these 30-something-and-under buyers are doing more than Googling a few keywords to find their new nest. House hunting millenials are now including property-related hashtags and social media feeds in their searches, and that’s only the tip of the iceberg.

The second-largest search engine in the world, YouTube, is also being used to explore houses and communities. 86 percent of home shoppers say they would use video to learn more about a specific community they are considering.

In this technology-driven age, it’s imperative for Sellers to remain active on social media (i.e. Instagram) in order to nurture interest in newly listed properties. Real estate voyeurism will only continue to expand its channels across the web.

So while you may laugh at my 50 variations of using the hashtag Yuma on my Instagram post (#yumaaz, #yuma, #yumaarizona...), know my Buyer is statistically on the receiving end of that post and now Blog! :)

Cheers to 1,000!
